British Columbia offers some of the best fishing in the world, and with so many lakes, rivers and streams nearby, Kimberley is no exception. In fact fishing is a huge sport for the locals in this area. The Lake fishing season is May and June, whereas the River seasons is July to mid-October.

Local waters are overflowing with trout, kokanee, char, whitefish and bass, to name just a few. The closest major fishing river is the St.Mary. Also nearby are the Bull, Elk and Skookumchuck rivers.

There is a very useful shop in Marysville, a couple of miles from Kimberley who can assist in equipment and information. They also offer guided day-tours – float trips on the St. Mary and Elk rivers, and walk & wade trips on the Skookumchuck river and Michael creek.
