Kimberley is an old mining town, which was first settled at the end of the 1800’s. The first settlement was called Mark Creek Crossing and grew up on the heel of the Sullivan Mine.

The mine was one of the largest lead and zinc mines in the world but ran out of mineable material in 2001. After the mine was closed the town turned its sights on the surrounding natural resources and has become one of the premier golf and skiing destinations in Canada.
